What to Know When Hiring a Travel Agent

1. Never hire an agent or agency without putting in some research time. You never know if they're reputable, or if you're giving your money to a fly-by-night scam artist unless you do your research.

2. Have at least a vague idea of where you want to go. If you need help with this, go back to the home page and select the "Where should I go?" link.

3. Know who you want to go with before you make an appointment. A travel agent will not put in a lot of work researching prices for you if you aren't planning to book with them.

4. Ask a friend. This is the best way to find a reputable agent. If they did good work for your friend, chances are they will do good work for you.

You'll also feel more comfortable with an agent if you know they've done good work in the past.

So ask a friend, relative, co-worker, etc. Someone will have used an agent, and you can capitalize on their good judgment by snagging that agent for your trip as well.
